Wat ga je doen?

As a key member of the mechanical R&D team, you will be responsible for the design and development of medical devices focused on diabetes care. You will be working in a fast-paced, innovative and collaborative environment, bringing knowledge of your craft to design ambitious and credible solutions to maintain the products we have as well as ensuring new launches continue to revolutionise the market. Your understanding of the engineering process allows you to ground your design in reality, and be able to collaborate with and articulate your work.

You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact within a small, passionate, highly skilled team and this is what you will be doing:

  • Design and development of innovative medical devices from sketch to mass production.
  • Development of requirements, specifications and components before verification and validation.
  • Apply an understanding of high-volume manufacturing processes and CMF to elevate the quality and potential output of the finished product.
  • Prototyping, testing and reporting throughout the product development life cycle to translate the requirements into tested and released products.
  • Overseeing the implementation of product and assembly improvements by liaising with and supporting our in-house manufacturing, external partners and contract manufacturers.
  • Communicating clearly and efficiently with management, peers and external stakeholders.
  • Working autonomously, at times, structuring your own deliverables, while ensuring delivery of outcomes.
  • Inject enthusiasm, creativity and diligent attention to detail in all aspects of your work
  • Keeping current with relevant scientific and technical developments within the field of diabetes care.

Wat vragen wij?

  • A minimum of 4 years experience with a proven track record in the design and development of medical devices or similar high volume regulated industry.
  • An eye for innovative design solutions that meet functional requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience in the design & manufacture of small parts (fine mechanics) from concept through to manufacture.
  • Strong knowledge in using 3D CAD (Solidworks experience preferred).
  • Experience in rapid prototyping and general workshop modelmaking.
  • The ability to empathise with users to create great products that not only meet the requirements but become a reliable part of their diabetes care.
  • Demonstrate integrity and courage in the way you work with an obsessive attention to detail.
  • A high level of self-motivation and drive with the ability to work in a collaborative cross-functional team of electrical, software, manufacturing and mechanical engineers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Dutch language is not required.
  • It’s a bonus if you also have:
  • Previous experience within the medical device industry
  • Mechanical-electrical engineering experience
  • Good understanding of high-volume manufacturing methods and materials
