Department Manager of the Deboning Department

Westfort

Westfort is looking for a Department Manager of the Deboning Department

  • Full-time
  • HBO

What are you going to do?

The Department Manager of the Deboning Department is responsible for one of our deboning lines. We have multiple opportunities, and depending on your experience, we can determine which department offers the right challenge for you. You will be working in one of the most modern meat processing facilities in the world, where we operate according to the Westfort production principles (flow-flex-control). We utilize the latest deboning techniques, allowing us to fully and highly automate the deboning process of primal cuts.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and organizing the tasks of the department across 2 shifts, ensuring the most efficient execution of tasks.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling and directly supervising at least 2 line managers, each of whom is operationally responsible for production in one of the 2 shifts on your department.
  • Ensuring that work is performed according to quality procedures concerning product quality, health and safety, food safety, and other regulations.
  • Coaching, guiding, and motivating employees.
  • Monitoring efficiency based on batch calculations.
  • Collaborating closely with the production manager for meat processing and your fellow department managers from other departments.
  • Initiating process improvements.

We operate on a two-shift schedule (5:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM). Depending on the department, there are approximately 60 to 100 employees working per shift, so you will indirectly manage 120-200 employees. You will generally be present during overlapping periods of both shifts and will occasionally be fully present during one of the shifts.

What do we ask?

  • Minimum HBO-level education or several years of experience in the meat sector.
  • Leadership skills and good communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and/or English; another language is a plus.
  • Affinity with automation.
  • You identify with the following competencies: precision, stress resistance, responsibility, and result-oriented.

What do we offer?

  • A role with a high level of responsibility and the freedom to organize your tasks within a dynamic, modern production environment.
  • The opportunity for further development within our company, supported by education and training.
  • A competitive salary, a 2% year-end bonus, 24 vacation days, and an employee discount on Westfort products.
